The Bettye, Irene & Mildred Compassion Initiative is committed to improving communities by providing essential assistance to individuals who have limited options. We aim to remove bureaucratic barriers, ensuring that BIM delivers help to those in need without unnecessary delays. As a registered 501(c)(3), your contribution is tax deductible.

Our organization was inspired by the lives and legacies of three remarkable women—our grandmothers. Each of them embodied resilience, generosity, and a deep sense of community. They shared the belief in caring for others, the importance of hard work, and the conviction that small acts of kindness can create lasting change. Their influence shaped who we are today and motivated us to create a nonprofit focused on community assistance that carries forward the spirit they lived by. This organization is not just a tribute to them as individuals, but to the lessons they passed down—compassion, perseverance, and the responsibility to leave the world better than we found it. Through BIM, we hope to honor their memory in a way that touches lives far beyond our own family.

Your donations enable us to provide crucial community assistance and support. Join us in making a difference. Every bit helps us change lives for the better.
Rural communities often face challenges in addressing homelessness, indigence, mental health, and poverty due to fewer resources and limited access to support services. Small towns may lack homeless shelters or public transportation, complicating the search for stability among vulnerable individuals. Mental health care is often underfunded and understaffed, forcing people to travel long distances for treatment or go without help entirely. Community assistance programs play a crucial role in addressing these issues but often require qualifying documents that may be difficult or expensive to obtain. Additionally there are often limits that do not entirely address the issue. As a result, rural residents struggling with these challenges frequently remain hidden, underserved, and overlooked. We want to bridge that gap.
We take on community needs at a level rarely addressed by local charitable organizations. Some of our clients need one-time help, while others require a longer-term boost to achieve get back on their feet.
Examples of Service to The Community
Eliminating warrants, old fees and a license suspension for a client who made youthful mistakes.
Paying utility bills for clients who are just above the threshold for disability qualification and have been unable to sustain meaningful employment due to brain injury.
Providing furniture, groceries and assistance in completing public assistance applications for single mothers.
Buying bus tickets home for newly released inmates, providing cell phones so they can call home, and ensure they get to the bus stop, which may be many counties away.
